Early Life of Alan Turing
Alan Mathison Turing was born in London in 1912. He was the second son in his family. He and his elder brother, John stayed in Hasting instead of traveling with their parents to India. He did not do well at first in his school, but his headmistress believed that he had talent so he was sent to Hazelhurst Preparatory School in 1922.
In 1926, Alan Turing continued his education in Sherborne School, where he met his true best friend, Christopher Morcon. Their relationship was so close that Alan named his Turing Machine Christopher. Alan and Christopher was studying science and math together, spurring each other on. However, unexpectedly, Christopher died on Feb. 13th, 1930, because of Bovine Tuberculosis. In order to overcome his grief, he was dedicated and determined to continue their work.
In 1931, Alan Turing went to King's college, Cambridge, to study mathematics, and he graduated in 1934. When he was 26 years old, he was awarded a PhD when he attended to Princeton University.

Turings Parents:
His father, Julius Mathison Turing, was a British member of the Indian Civil Service and he was often abroad. Alan's mother, Ethel Sara Stoney, was the daughter of the chief engineer of the Madras railways and Alan's parents had met and married in India. When Alan was about one year old his mother rejoined her husband in India, leaving Alan in England with friends of the family. Alan was sent to school but did not seem to be obtaining any benefit so he was removed from the school after a few months.
